Kakyoin looked up at Jotaro, bringing his face away from his hands. Tears were streaming down his cheeks and his teeth were clenched. He looked away and rubbed the tears away with his sleeve. “I-I’m fine… I was just… remembering some bad things…”
“Sounds good. Let me get dressed, first. Wait outside for me.” He was still in his pajamas since the sun was just starting to rise. He got out of bed and stretched, then went over to his luggage. He hadn’t fully unpacked, yet, since he was only staying with Jotaro for a few days before he could go back home.
Jotaro nodded, and left the room, and headed to the kitchen for breakfast. He sat down in front of a plate of bacon and eggs, and began to eat, when Star Platinum popped out of him, pointing at the food, “Ora?”
“No, you don’t need to punch the food. It’s safe.”
While Kakyoin was getting dressed, Hierophant Green squeezed out of the room under the door and went to the kitchen. A cheery, bubbly sound came from the fluid stand as it peeked into the room and waved at Star Platinum. It still looked as shy as it was when Jotaro and Kakyoin first met.
Star Platinum waved to Hierophant Green, not smiling as it knew fully well that its smile was scary. It motioned for the stand to come over and sit down. Star Platinum was ready to protect its friend from all of the mean foods.
Hierophant Green snickered at Star Platinum’s guard dog antics and walked past him to the kitchen to make breakfast for Kakyoin. “You don’t have to protect us from everything.” He said to the hulking warrior. “The battle is over. Relax.”
He used tentacles to grab a pan, a spatula, and a carton of eggs.
Star Platinum examined the eggs, completely ignoring Hierophant Green and began handing him the best eggs using its perfect senses. When Hierophant Green began cooking bacon, Star Platinum got ready to punch away any grease that dared to attack its friend.
Hierophant Green happily accepted the eggs Star Platinum chose because it knew of the other’s super senses. Eggs could go bad quick and Kakyoin would not be happy if he ended up with a stomach ache. It went to flip a piece of bacon and the grease popped. The stand wasn’t bothered until it felt a massive force ram into its side, pushing it out of the way. “STAR PLATINUM! IT’S FINE! I’M NOT MADE OF PAPER!”
Star Platinum looked at the green liquid stand, and pointed to its gut, “Ora!”
Jotaro looked at them, “Stop messing around! You’re gonna make a mess of my kitchen!”
Hierophant Green turned a darker shade of green and attempted and failed to drag Star Platinum out of the kitchen to Jotaro. It gave up and stomped out to Jotaro, making angry bubble noises while pointing at its gut, like it was saying, “DID YOU JUST HEAR WHAT YOUR STAND SAID ABOUT ME?!”
Kakyoin walked in. “Star Platinum is bullying Hierophant Green.”
“Was Hierophant Green being a little shit?” Jotaro asked, finishing breakfast, and standing up, and withdrawing Star Platinum.
Hierophant Green crossed its arms and bubbled angrily before it was called back.
“I wasn’t paying attention to the conversation. I just heard Hierophant tell Star it wasn’t made of paper and Star said The World thought otherwise.” Kakyoin went over and finished making his breakfast. He sat down to eat it when the foundation of the house rocked and the sound of an explosion boomed off in the distance.
Kakyoin stood up immediately and ran to the door to look outside. A massive fireball curled into the sky. “That’s near my house!”
Before anyone would have realized it, Jotaro and Kakyoin would be at the explosion, “We’re here.” He said, calling Star Platinum out.
“Your house is on fire.”
He pointed at the cars in the open garage. They had exploded. “My parents are still here!” He sprinted and went to kick the door open, but it had already been kicked open but closed. Assuming the worst, he called out Hierophant Green and rushed inside.
“MOM?! DAD?!” Kakyoin ran through all the rooms in the house he could. The staircase was ruined, so he sent Hierophant Green up to check while he dug through the rubble left by the explosion. Smoke was filling his lungs and stinging his eyes but he didn’t care.
Jotaro chased after Kakyoin and called out Star Platinum, “Star Platinum, The World!”
A wave of energy echoed out from Jotaro, and time froze, “Yare yare daze. Kakyoin, you need to relax.”
He moved Kakyoin to a safer place and began looking through the house himself, trying to get anyone out. As his five seconds expired, Star Platinum set to protecting him from falling debris and keeping a close eye on the insides of the building.
Kakyoin noticed he was no longer surrounded in heat and blinked. He coughed from smoke inhalation and leaned on the fence. He heard sirens and looked down the street to see fire trucks.
The firefighters approached and helped the coughing boy over to a respirator. “There are three people in there. My parents and another student. My friend is looking for my parents.” One of the firefighters nodded and they signaled a couple to go in and search as they tried tackling the fire outside.
Inside, it seemed nobody was home. There was an intact room in which it looked like there was a struggle on the opposite side from the explosion. Fire fighters came in and handed Jotaro a respirator and tried to guide him out.
Jotaro rejected the respirator, and looked at the door, “Star Platinum, The World!”
He shouted, freezing time, and having star Platinum examine the room for all clues, even the smallest detail with his super senses. He knew he would have to get out as soon as his five seconds were up, and at four seconds he jumped out the window with the firefighters, “Kakyoin, I didn’t find your parents. It seems like nobody was there.

“Was it DIO?” He asked, “N'Doul, Telence?” He continued, running through the list of things that had happened in the last few months, “J. Geil?”
Jotaro wanted to help his friend, but Star Platinum probably wouldn’t help with that.
“Mostly N’Doul and DIO… I just woke up from a nightmare that scared me into a panic attack. That hand made from water tearing at m-my face and the feeling of DIO’s attack…” He hugged himself, shivering. “The terror I felt… I held back the weight of it all for a while because I didn’t want to worry myself. Because they’re gone… It’s over… Right?”
“I-In my nightmare, DIO came back to life… Could that be my mind playing tricks, or could he really be back?” He ran his fingers through his red hair. “I felt like I was being watched!”
“Kakyoin, I punched The World so hard, DIO exploded. Then I burned the body in sunlight. He’s dead. And N'Doul killed himself so you don’t need to worry about that. And I have the power of The World now. If DIO comes back, he’ll regret it.”
“Perhaps I’m being over-dramatic… But I wouldn’t put it past DIO to find a way to survive even that. I don’t want to be looking over my shoulder for the rest of my life, either.” He sighed. “I need to put the past behind me. DIO has to be dead. You exposed him to sunlight. He’s gone forever.” He felt like a fool for worrying Jotaro like this.
“You don’t need to look over your shoulder Kakyoin, that’s what I’m here for. We gotta watch each other’s backs. We have Stands, but that doesn’t make us invincible. We should still be careful of DIO’s leftover goons coming after us.”
He smiled and sighed with relief. “The goons are a pain, but I’ll be fine with dealing with them if it’s just them.” He chuckled to himself, looking up at Jotaro with a smirk. “Or idiots at school once Spring Break is over. I hear you have a lot of fun putting them in their places.”
“Yeah, I have my fair share of fun dealing with people who need to be put in their place.” Jotaro said, standing up, “Anyway, let’s go get something to eat.”
